Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

It is a very sad day for America, a very sad day indeed. In Ben Steins new movie on creationism, due to debut in February of 2008, he explores the idea that "Big Science has expelled smart ideas from the classroom." By smart ideas, he is referring to creationism, a central tenant of the religious right. These ideas are certainly not smart, but border on insanity. Discrediting several Micro-biologists such as Richard Dawkins, who had no idea that the movie they were being in interviewed in was supporting Creationism, Ben Stein uses selective shooting in order to tarnish reputations and prove fallacious points. Besides the fact that the movie does not seem to have a scintilla of truth or credibility, both because of its purpose and acquisition of interviews, it is indicative of the growing stupidity of Americans. While Europeans and the rest of the world liken God to the Easter bunny, or Thor, Americans still believe that the earth is 4000 years old, and that Noah really had an ark, culminating in America becoming the running joke. Do not get me wrong friends, I love America and everything about it, but the fact that this movie will even get theater time, none the less hordes of ignorant viewers to watch it, is a travesty. Evolution should not only be taught in schools, but should be taught with much more vehemence than it is now. Today most biology textbooks tiptoe around the subject, and some more conservative ones even have disclaimers. It is very scary to me that when polls are taken, the results are bimodal. This means that half of the people surveyed believe in evolution, and half do not. That is unbelievable; it seems that America is on a slippery slope, falling quickly down the educational bell curve. The same people proselytizing for the teaching of evolution in schools are the same back-slapping hypocrites who are tarnishing our nation's reputation from within, and this movie "Expelled" is only exacerbating the problem. Soon hordes of our ignorant friends will be flocking to the theaters, dropping money on Ben Stein so fast that you would think they were at a pro-life fundraiser event. Although the movie is a travesty, the only iota of respect I can give about the outcome is the thrift and graft of Ben Stein. Since he knew ignorance and superstition would trump science and logic, and that he could intrigue an entire nation enough to accrue a stack of cash, you can see why Ben would make the movie. And to Ben, after your done brainwashing a bunch of superstitious, hyper-patriotic reprobates, drive your brand new Porsche Carrera to a fundraiser for a Museum or science show, and throw some money around. Although you still might not have a modicum of respect left, it may help you sleep at night.
